Filipino American Historical Society of Chicago: About us
MISSION STATEMENT
To record the Filipino American history in the Chicago area.
To preserve selected artifacts and documents of that history.
To provide exhibits "Just Yesterday" and "Kindred Spirit -- Waves Apart," the story of Chicago's Filipino Americans.
To promote public interest in the history of Chicago's Filipino Americans.
To educate and involve individuals and groups in an appreciation and understanding of the Philippine heritage of Chicago's Filipino Americans.
To establish the Filipino American Historical Society of Chicago Museum.
We, you and I, have planted the seed of our Filipino American contribution to nationbuilding. We havd envisioned the full-grown Filipino American museum to rise in Chicago as the first in the United States focused on our story of immigration.
As founders, we take pride pioneering this challenging task of bringing to our Kababayans and the mainstream our visibility, our contribution, dreams and frustrations via historical context.
As members you and we face this challenge of maintaining, sustaining and retaining this vision to a reality. And, to maintain this vision, we in the historical society find the yearlong challenge as an obligation.
As we face to accomplish and deliver this task, the funds of the historical society is reaching a point of mutual support. We encourage you to join us to keep the doors of the museum open. With your pledged support the program of the museum would become viable.
